What and Who? Texas Angler’s will take out recovering wounded soldiers and their families from Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) and Wilford Hall/Lackland Fisher House for a day in the great outdoors and a wonderful day of bass fishing. Numbers will hopefully range from 75-100 soldiers (including some family members).
What You Can Do to Help? Take a soldier out fishing, cook them lunch, get more sponsorship support, set-up the event... It's a lot of fun and you'll never forget the smiles on their faces. We need boaters (bass boats, pontoons, etc.) and volunteers (cook, set-up, weigh-in, etc.). And even if you can't support the event that day, we need all the sponsorship support we can get.
When and Where? 13 October 2011 at Choke Canyon, Calliham State Park (near Three Rivers, TX), south of San Antonio about 80 miles.
What’s New? We’re going to build on the last seven events and make this one bigger and better than ever! Turn out with the family and I guarantee you’ll treat a soldier to an awesome day on the lake, BBQ… and you’ll have fun too!
Support by: Non-Commissioned Officers Association, Texas Parks and Wildlife, ArmyBassAnglers.com and more to be announced.
Run by: Quality Bass Club.
Calliham State Park: Has several walking trails, and numerous wildlife (deer, javelina, and turkey) can often be seen in the early morning and along the park roads. The park also has a rock jetty/fishing pier and buoyed off fishing cove for those not wanting to go out on the boat. More information can be found at http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/ parks/choke_canyon/.
Families are welcome to help out! They all had a great time previous years!
