Community Events
Excerpt from the Quality Bass Club By-Laws:
To stimulate public awareness of bass fishing as a major sport. To
offer our state conservation department our organized moral and
political support and encouragement. To promote full adherence to
all conservation codes and to demand adequate water standards. To
detect and report any polluter and call public and political
attention to the crime. To improve our skill as bass anglers
through a fellowship of friendly exchange of expert bass-catching
techniques and ideas, and to promote and encourage youth fishing,
and a love for this great recreation. To function as a dynamic and
effective link with other Chapters of the State B.A.S.S. Chapter
Federation embracing the principles and purposes of Bass Anglers
Sportsman Society (c). |

Take a Kid Fishing Day. Several Members of the club donated their time and
boats in order to help the effort of taking kids out for a wonderful day of

"SMART" Donation. The club was part of numerous organizations who
donated money towards the purchase of an alternate means of controlling
hydrilla in our Texas lakes - a weed harvester. Rather than resorting to
chemical treatments, a harvester has been purchased and is being operated
successfully by the Texas Parks and Wildlife in lakes such as Coleto Creek
and Bastrop in order to control the weeds but not pollute the water.
Response to PETA. Several members of the club were proactive in
voicing their concerns over the organization PETA (People for the Ethical
Treatment of Animals) trying to defame the sport of fishing. PETA was trying
to boycott General Mills for the plans to place Mr Denny Brauer on the cover
of Wheaties boxes in order to recognize his success in the sport of fishing.
Flood Relief Efforts at Del Rio, TX. The club donated a "boat-load" (literally) of food and clothing to the
Emergency Center in Del Rio. The town was hit very hard by torrential rains
which flooded many of the low-lying areas and houses. Pictures are coming...
Gillespie Ford's Angel Tree Project. During the Christmas time, the club donates money for the purchase of toys
and gifts for needy children in San Antonio. The club has donated over 24
bikes since we started giving to these needy children.
Lack's Food Drive. During the Christmas time, the club
rounds up food for the annual Lack's food drive.
Monofilament Line Recycling. Throughout the year, the club is active
in recycling their old line through the program at Academy Sports and
Outdoors store. Academy collects old monofilament line at all of their
stores for later recycling. By keeping these thousands of yards of line out
of the landfills and lakes, we can further protect our natural resources and
lessen the danger line has to nature's "critters."
Remember... Please take care of the waters you fish and share the joy of
fishing with a child!!!
